MLA/MUP Concurrent Degree Admissions

An applicant who is not currently a student at the University of Washington must submit applications and fees for EACH of the two programs. Both programs must offer admission before admission into the concurrent degree program is granted.

Students who are currently enrolled must submit an application and fee for the second program, indicating on the application that the intent is to complete both degrees rather than to transfer to the second program. Currently enrolled applicants may submit their original application recommendation letters; however if original letters are specifically targeted to the applicants' promise for one field (landscape architecture or urban design and planning), then we recommend that the applicants supplement those letters with at least one new letter that more specifically addresses the applicants' promise for the additional field. Please note that applicants who are current students will compete with a full set of applicants, and recommendation letters are an important part of their applications.

Please note: Individuals applying for either the concurrent MUP/MPA program or the concurrent MUP/MLA program must submit two separate Graduate School applications, one for each program; indicate to which concurrent program you are applying in the Areas of Interest section of your applications. In requesting letters of recommendation, we suggest you provide each of your evaluators with a copy of your statement of purpose to help them prepare a better letter of evaluation.

If you have any other questions, please contact the MLA Program Assistant Ms. JoAnne Edwards at (206) 543-9240, or the MLA Program Coordinator Professor Thaisa Way at (206) 685 2523.
